It has been a busy year for KCM Trade’sanalyst, with our in-house financial market experts making many appearances inthe global media. Our Chief Market Analyst Tim Waterer has been a regularweekly guest on Ausbiz throughout 2023, and this week Tim made his final weeklyappearance for the year on ‘The Pulse’ program.
Tim chatted with Ausbiz host AndrewGeoghegan about all the latest news, events, and trends in financial marketsduring the interview on Tuesday. Andrew was keen to hear Tim’s thoughts on thelatest RBA (Reserve Bank of Australia) Minutes, as well as what differences wecould see between the US and Australian central banks with regards to interestrate settings in 2024.
The discussion then turned to the currencymarket, and the performance of the AUD against the greenback given the dovishexpectations for the US Federal Reserve. Also, up for discussion was the BOJmeeting and the chances of when we could see the Japanese officials move awayfrom their long-held negative interest rate policy.
Andrew then sought Tim’s insights on thecommodities market, with Tim noting that gold has benefitted from sinking bondyields while oil has reacted to supply concerns stemming from conflict in theMiddle East.
